If a child who is in the care of the Director, under section 3, comes under the control of any person or authority by reason of his adjudication as a mental patient he shall thereupon cease to be under the care of the Director; but where, immediately before he comes under the control of a person or authority as aforesaid, an assumption under section 4 is in force with respect to him, the rights and powers conferred on the Director by the assumption shall, so long as the assumption is in force, continue to be exercisable by the Director so however that the said rights and powers shall not be exercisable against the person or authority having control of the child or so as to interfere with anything done by the said person or authority with respect to the child.
